Overview
FLOURISH is a dedicated mobile app made for a florist based out of New York. This was my first UI/UX design project made while I was completing Google’s Professional UX Design Certificate.
Problem: Customers need a fast and easy way to browse options and purchase floral arrangements from their favorite local florist. Some users have limited time or lack of transportation and rely on delivery services.
Solution: This mobile app gives users a way to browse and order floral arrangements from their mobile device. They can quickly and easily place an order for pickup or delivery and schedule their order on a recurring basis.
My Role: UX Designer and Researcher
Research
I began my research by conducting a competitive analysis. I reviewed 2 direct competitors (1-800 Flowers and Farmgirl Flowers) and 1 indirect competitor (Giant). Through this process I was able to identify key strengths and weaknesses of these competitors. My next step was to meet with and interview 3 participants. Through these interviews I identified common user preferences, goals, and pain points when purchasing floral arrangements.
Define
By doing research to better understand the user, I was able to create 2 sample personas to represent user pain points and goals.
User Persona
Design Process
After doing research and defining the user’s pain points and goals I was ready to start outlining and designing the main user flow.
User Flow Map
Wireframes
Mockups
My next step was to turn these wireframes into a low-fidelity prototype which I was able to test on a group of 5 participants. Through their feedback, I was able to iterate and design my first round of mockups.
